Tell ’em Morgan!…

I love this video. I love even more that it’s Morgan Freeman saying all this. Somehow he always seemed to me to be a wise old man with great insight, a notion brought on by his various roles in film and that deep commanding voice no doubt. I’m all for a post-racial America. I’m also in favor of people retaining their culture, though not to the extent that it incapacitates them from crossing the cultural gap and becoming a first-class citizen. Obama said

“There is not a Black America and a White America and a Latino America and an Asian America — there’s the United States of America.”

Sounds great! Lets drop the whole racial thing and get on with becoming a beacon of light for the rest of the world. But wait… now there’s this…. The “The African-American perspective on news. Our lives, our world, our stories.” What in the hell is this!? Part of NBC news, the grio is a treasure trove of fantastic journalism. *Sigh* is named after a storyteller in western Africa who maintained the oral tradition and history of a village or family. What kind of tradition are they trying to perpetuate; segregation, entitlement? Most are willing and have extended the hand of friendship and reconciliation to put this matter to bed. Does racism still exists? Yes. Racism still exists, and it’s absolutely shameful when it rears it’s ugly head, but it’s the exception not the rule. Are the Barack Obamas, Jeremiah Wrights, Al Sharptons, Jesse Jacksons, Thomas Gates’ and Grio.coms of the world helping the situation? Hell no! They are not champions of some noble cause, they stand to create division among a people that, I believe, desperately want to be rid of this issue. We need more Morgan Freemans around here. Rant over.

Excellent post! I agree 100%! Seems to me that Morgan Freeman agrees with Prof. Walter Williams. I posted a review of one of his lectures on my blog at

It’s great to hear the voice of logic and reason in the constant din of hatred and arrogance among the self-appointed leaders of the people in America that happen to have a little more melanin in their skin than others.
